When a 3D printed replacement part makes sense

A printed replacement part can be a good option when the original plastic piece is missing, discontinued, overpriced, or difficult to find. Common requests include knobs, caps, covers, simple clips, spacers, brackets, mounts, adapters, drawer pieces, cable holders, and small utility parts. Teker Labs reviews each request first because not every broken part is a safe or realistic print candidate.

Best candidates for replacement-part printing

Good candidates are usually non-critical plastic parts with a clear shape and a simple job. If the piece holds a cover in place, organizes cables, supports a lightweight object, fills a gap, replaces a missing knob, or helps restore a household item, it may be worth reviewing. For more details, see our 3D printed replacement parts page.

What to send for a quote

Photos help a lot. Send a picture of the broken item, a picture of where it fits, rough dimensions, screw-hole spacing, color preference, and what the part needs to do. If you already have an STL, STEP, OBJ, or CAD file, include that too. If not, Teker Labs can still review photos and measurements through the 3D printing quote request process.

Important safety limits

3D printing is not a magic fix for every part. Safety-critical, automotive, medical, pressure, food-contact, high-heat, electrical, or load-bearing parts need extra review and may not be suitable. Teker Labs keeps the process quote-first so customers know what is realistic before anything is printed.
